sheriff's lecture

A police expert Sheila Lawrence, Head of Operations Department of Oregon Sheriff's Office, USA held a meeting in Tbilisi Open University with students from TOU and Tbilisi State University (TSU)
The expert Lawrence and her department has extensive experience of working on community policing and successful use of crime prevention techniques. As part of the meeting Ms Lawrence gave a lecture where she shared her own experience on the following topics:

  • Main characteristics of the US law enforcement structures;
  • Difference between Georgian and American police models;
  • History of creating a sheriff's office;
  • Practice of modern police activities in the 21st century in the US;
  • The model of community-oriented police activities according to the practice of the sheriff's office.


The lecture was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
